Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is an evergreen shrub that grows in Asia and Africa. It is a standardized full-spectrum extract that includes six withanolides: withanoside IV, withaferin A, withanoside VI, 12-deoxy withastramonolide, withanolide A, and withanolide B. This extract is commonly used for stress. Ashwagandha contains chemicals that may help to calm the brain, reduce swelling, lower blood pressure, and modify the immune system.
